A “name” and “surname” for every single bottle of Calabrian oil. The agreement for the traceability of Calabria Igp oil between the Polygraph and State Mint and the Consortium represented by president Massimino Magliocchi and director Giuseppe Perri was officially presented in Rome, in the beautiful and historic Museum of the Mint.
“A historic step for the protection and enhancement of Calabria Igp oil,” claimed the protagonists of the laudable initiative. A step forward to ensure quality and safety, as well as protection, for the entire sector. And to consumers.
The Olio di Calabria IGP, recognized at the European level, represents one of the region’s most prestigious brands, and the new agreement aims to strengthen control and certification measures. Protecting consumers from counterfeiting while guaranteeing quality is the goal of the agreement, which will be pursued through cooperation between the State Polygraph, the Consortium and ICQRF – Central Inspectorate for the Protection of Quality and Fraud Repression of Agri-Food Products.
Our goal is to ensure that every bottle of Olio di Calabria PGI is certified and safe for consumers,” said Francesco Soro, CEO of the Polygraph Institute and State Mint. “This agreement represents a concrete commitment to quality and transparency.”
“It is a solution that on the one hand will provide more and more guarantees at the time of purchase,” explained Felice Assenza Chief ICQRF MASAF,” and on the other facilitates our control operations by the Department, which is devoting great attention of the oils sector.
Massimino Magliocchi, President of the Consortium for the Protection and Valorisation of Calabria oil IGP, stressed, “The Consortium has as its primary objective the protection of the brand and the good practices associated with it. Thanks to this agreement, the Consortium will be able to count on more robust support for the verification and certification of oils, helping to maintain the excellence of the product. We are more than convinced that all this represents an extra gear for all our producers and an outstretched hand, above all toward consumers.”
An important legislative, legal and quality “embrace” that certainly ushers in a new season for all Italian identity products. Full satisfaction, of course, was expressed by the director of the Consortium, Giuseppe Perri, who is now aiming for awareness among producers and greater knowledge on the part of all. “We are among the first Consortiums in Italy to have the mark of the Polygraph Institute and State Mint.
Cioccolato di Modica Igp and Aceto Balsamico di Modena Igp are the other products that have joined,” Perri explains.
The mark is made by the Polygraph with specific graphics and security printing elements similar to those in use for banknotes and is personalized with the colors and logo of the Olio di Calabria Igp Consortium. It is uniquely numbered and is equipped with a Qr code through which, directly from your smartphone, you can access the platform that promotes the dissemination of information and awareness on the issues of certified quality, traceability and the fight against counterfeiting: “a complete and guaranteed information system-underlines the Institute-to strengthen the culture of authentic Made in Italy, fight fraud and enhance information heritage on national agrifood excellence.”
